About Me

Hi, thanks for dropping by!

My name is Elaine Kassabian and I live in London with my husband, Ara and 13 year old son, Seto. I am a lawyer but have a passion for wine and Armenia.  I am currently studying for my WSET 3. In 2017, after the death of my wonderful father, I was encouraged by friends and family to take a break in Armenia to help with the dark cloud of grief.  I wasn’t sure what I was expecting.  I had heard stories of diasporans going to Armenia and feeling a “connection” “falling in love” “weeping on arrival”. I was a bit sceptical.  I didn’t weep when I arrived at 5 am after a 16-hour journey but very soon understood what the "connection" was and falling in love with my ancestral country.  During my first trip, I was taken aback by some of the wines being produced in Armenia and on my second trip, a year later, I could already see the industry taking off.

The aim of my blog is to encourage people to discover Armenian wines for themselves. I am often asked by friends wanting to buy gifts at Christmas if I know anyone coming from Armenia and whether they could bring a bottle of wine or cognac. Their question is a little strange because there are stockists of Armenian wines and spirits outside of Armenia.

So, join me on my journey of discovering Armenian wines that are available to us. When thinking about what wines you are going to have for your next gathering with family and friends, think of Armenian wines as there are many wonderful wines just a click away.
