Halloween with an Armenian Twist
I love going to Halloween parties, but this year, with a recent knee operation and having to hobble about on crutches, I decided to have a small party at home and invited some friends over. I don’t need much of an excuse to make cocktails, and with the weather forecast being pretty miserable, I thought my guests would appreciate some brandy to warm them up. In our house, we only have Armenian Brandy. So I opted to make the Sidecar cocktail. It’s simple and delicious!
Ingredients
To make 1 Sidecar, you’ll need:
50ml Cognac or Brandy - I used Ararat Akhtamar 10-Year-Old Armenian Brandy
25ml Cointreau
25ml lemon juice,
Caster sugar
A wedge of lemon for the glass
Ice
Method
Put a coupe glass or martini glass in the fridge to chill for about 20 to 30 minutes
Place the sugar in a saucer. Take the glass out of the fridge and dip the glass into the sugar to coat the rim.
Put the Brandy, Cointreau and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker with the ice. Shake for about 10 seconds. The drink should come out chilled. Strain the drink into the chilled glass.
Garnish with lemon or a twist of orange. Voila! You have a Sidecar cocktail.
Enjoy!
Let me know what you think.
I'm going to try this out! Sounds wonderful!
